The Team at In Motion Asia...

Cam McLean - Director

In Motion Asia is the brainchild of Cam McLean. Originally from New Zealand, the home of adventure sport, Cam has been living and working in Asia since 1993. After completing a degree in Project Management and taking part in adventures throughout Asia, Cam settled in Taiwan in 2003 where he started In Motion Asia.

Prior to working in the outdoors Cam was part of management teams working on some of the biggest construction projects in Asia valued at millions of dollars. It is here that he refined the skills required to ensure an event runs smoothly, on budget, to the quality specified, and of course in the safest manner possible. 

Cam is an avid outdoor enthusiast and has completed in multi-discipline races throughout NZ, Australia, and Asia. You can often find him running or biking in the hills around Taipei, leading a tour through Taiwan’s high mountains, organizing events, competing in an endurance event or hard at work on the computer...!

Matt Robertson - Technical Operations Manager

Matt has over 18 years of experience in the outdoor sports industry, and is widely regarded as one of the most knowledgeable figures in the rock-climbing world. Originally from Michigan in the United States, Matt has led thousands of rock, ice, and mountain climbs in over 20 countries, including El Capitan (Yosemite), Aconcagua (6,959m, Argentina), and the North Face of Cima Grande (Italy) to name a few.

Prior to joining In Motion Asia in 2010, Matt previously worked in the management consulting industry with degrees in MIS and Accounting from Ohio State University. In 1999, Matt’s yearning for the outdoors led him to gain EMT certification and a position on the Yosemite Search and Rescue (YOSAR) team, enabling him to spend several years climbing and guiding in the Yosemite area.

In addition to his guiding and rescue background, Matt is the foremost local expert on the spectacular climbing of Taiwan’s Northeast Coast, has authored two guidebooks to rock climbing in Taiwan, and manages the Rock Climbing Taiwan website.

Matt is a passionate outdoor enthusiast and competes in outdoor adventure events regularly, including taking first place in the 2003 Action Asia Challenge Adventure Race and completing several marathons.

Zhongkuai - Technical Assistant

Zhongkuai assists on a lot of our tours and provides technical support along with bike mechanic skills.  A local Taiwanese with huge experience in the outdoors and a huge heart!

Pon Pon - Administration Manager

The ever smiling Pon provides all the logistical support to make our tours & events seamless as well as keeping the office clean & tidy.
